PAINTED
HILLS
The painted hills near John Day, Oregon are
truly a geological wonderland. I've made many
road trips there working on images that are
befitting of such a unique location. On the
day this image was shot, my traveling partner
was Emma, our 4 year old daughter. As usual,
she was a game companion who remained in good
spirits throughout our long day. As you can
see, it was cloudy with periodic sun breaks.
I'm extremely pleased with the dark cloudy sky,
the sunlit painted hills in the mid-ground and
the delicate dried grasses in the foreground.
I hope you enjoy this image from our father-daughter
