MANZANITA
BRANCHES
The ubiquitous Manzanita bush is a plant which
has long intrigued me. I'm fond of their delicate
pink bell-shaped blossoms, their green waxy
evergreen leaves and the fact that their berries
provide food for wildlife. Many a mountain biker,
backpacker, or landscape photographer will argue
to the fact that the Manzanita's sharp strong
branches make it a formidable foe. Those same
back country adventurers would also have a difficult
time arguing that some Manzanitas have truly
beautiful branches. I captured this particular
specimen after a heavy spring rain which saturated
the scene and enhanced the beauty of its copper
color limbs. |
