SUMMIT
SUNRISE
This is definitely my most hard earned image
to date. I have always loved mountains, especially
our cascade volcanoes here in central Oregon.
I've climbed South Sister with a light and fast
approach many times and have always felt that
the summit view towards middle and North Sister
would make a beautiful photograph if there was
abundant snow and early morning light. I climbed
South Sister carrying a 45 pound backpack in
deep spring snow with two friends in order to
capture the scene. We slept on the summit and
awoke in the frigid cold early enough to photograph
this beautiful volcanic mountain range. From
nearest to farthest you can see Middle Sister,
North Sister, Three Finger Jack, Mount Jefferson,
Mount Hood, Mount Adams, Mount St. Helens, Mount
Rainier and even the diminutive Black Butte
offset to the right. |
