MOUNT BACHELOR
I spent countless days waiting for appropriate
weather conditions to make a great image of
Mount Bachelor. I scouted this area many times
in the past and had determined from where I
wanted my Mount Bachelor image to be taken.
The morning after a heavy winter snow, I snowshoed
up Mount Bachelor's neighbor, Tumalo Mountain.
I arrived at my predetermined photo site well
before sunrise via use of a GPS unit. As I composed
the image, a heavy mist obscured Mt. Bachelor.
I panicked, grabbed my camera and sprinted up
Tumalo Mountain until I was above the heaviest
mist. By the time this image was taken, a light
mist had re-entered my field of view. In my
final print, I was very pleased in that I feel
the fine mist adds a unique ethereal quality
to this photograph. |
