PONDEROSA
I've always loved the Ponderosa trees that are
native to central Oregon. I love their cinnamon
colored, jigsaw puzzle-like bark, the vanilla
rum fragrance they give off in the summer, their
massive dimensions and their ability to thrive
in the harsh climate of central Oregon. I had
searched arduously before I found an individual
Ponderosa which I felt was an adequate representation
of this beautiful tree. This is one of the most
enormous Ponderosas I've ever seen. I've photographed
it many times but it wasn't until this evening
that I captured this wonderful tree from the
optimal angle and with the warm golden glow
of the evening's last light igniting the tree's
upper most branches. This is the first of my
images that I feel captures the grandeur of
an amazing Ponderosa specimen. |
