JEFFERSON
PARK REFLECTION
I captured the image of one of my favorite locations
on a rare backpacking trip with my wife Debbie.
Jefferson Park, located at the northern base
of Mount Jefferson was filled with wild flowers
which I was eager to shoot in the early morning
light. Morning came and with it came the kind
of strong winds which frustrate many landscape
photographers. In an attempt to escape the winds,
I retreated to a lake side wind break that I
hope would offer a reflection of Mount Jefferson.
It did indeed! I'm still very pleased with the
composition on this image. Notice the wispy
layer of clouds in the mid ground of this image.
These clouds were literally being formed before
my eyes on the western flanks of Mount Jefferson,
quickly blowing east and then dissipating. They
were also a periodic source of frustration on
this gusty morning, although they did lend an
attractive compositional element to the image.
