South Sister Sunrise
I've camped at the site of this image multiple times in the past. Each time I've felt that this is one of the few locations that accurately captures the grandeur of South Sister. I've also always felt that a snow covered image may do more justice to this wonderful alpine area along the Pacific Crest between South and Middle Sister Mountains. Early in the spring of 2004, a friend and I snow shoed over 7 miles with 50 pound packs to this location, snow camped and arose prior to sunrise. I feel fortunate to have captured this image of mornings first light bathing South Sister with luminous pink alpenglow.
