Luminous
Lupines
The morning that this image was composed, my
alarm clock jolted me awake at 3:00AM. I gulped
down a life giving mug of coffee, drove winding
forest service roads for an hour, hiked for
an hour and arrived in time for sunrise. My
intention was to photograph a popular field
of lupines with Three Fingered Jack towering
overhead. I excitedly composed many shots but
the lupines were largely bloomed out for the
year. On my hike out, a clump of lupines caught
my eye. I rarely shoot this late in the morning
but the composition of this scene was too enticing
to ignore. A solitary ray of light illuminating
an attractive grouping of lupines juxtaposed
against the colorful towering face of Three
Fingered Jack made this my favorite image of
the day. |
