Aspen Leaves
The autumn of 2004 was an excellent season for
fall foliage in central Oregon. On the day I
shot this close-up I learned to fully inspect
my surroundings. I went out that day with the
intention of photographing a large stand of
Aspen trees. I was soon frustrated by a lack
of interesting compositional options. As I pondered
the scene I realized that the individual Aspen
leaves were more striking than the grove as
a whole. I found what I considered to be the
most colorful individual tree under which I
composed this shot of fallen leaves. Learning
to inspect the intimate details of a scene has
become a valuable photographic tool for me. |
