Artist Profile
I’m Mike Putnam, a professional landscape photographer living and working in Bend, Oregon. Central Oregon is a wonderland for landscape photographers. The variety of landscapes is astounding. High desert vistas give way to Ponderosa forests. These forests lead to high alpine stands of mountain hemlocks and subalpine firs in the volcanic highlands forming the heart of the Three Sisters Wilderness. South, Middle, and North Sisters are only part of Central Oregon skyline. we are also graced by Mt. Bachelor, Mt. Washington, Three Fingered Jack, and Mt. Jefferson, and Broken Top. The wild and beautiful Deschutes River runs through Central Oregon, as do several of its tributaries, including the Metolius river, Crooked River, Tumalo Creek, Fall River and many others. Further to the west lies the rain forests and waterfalls of the wet side of the Central Oregon Cascades. All of these amazing natural features makes being a photographer in Central Oregon an endless journey. visit my website at www.mikeputnamphoto.com.
My photographs are primarily created using a large format view camera, in order to produce large beautiful landscape photographs. World class fine art prints are always my goal when scouting or shooting for photo purposes. The large transparency size of my view camera allows me to make larger more intricately detailed prints than are possible with other camera formats, including digital. That being said, I often take a digital camera along on my adventures as a back up, which allows me to quickly document a scene. Many of these digital files will work their way into this blog because of their ease of use. If you’d like more information about my photography,
